This is an extended series of porcelain portarits. Each one is unique and rich in personality, yet in a state of self preoccupation with their own being. They are are frozen in time, captured in a photographic moment as they dwell upon their fate or react to some unseen force. Whilst delicate and quite beautiful there is also sometimes slightly grotesque in the distortion of their limbs, the twist of the torso the outstretched arms or the fearful clasping. They have been likened to figures divorced from a Hieronymus Bosch painting, and are made no less disturbing by the glazing which runs through the figure, accetuating form with the unnatural hues and tones.  These works come encased within a wooden box made from recycled NZ native timbers. The boxes provide a safe haven for the figures and are designed to hang snugly on the wall, a metal pin in the bottom then goes into a hole in the base of the figure, protecting them from sudden knocks or earthly movements...
